Cloudster Pillow Wedge
Carrying AIWB can sometimes feel like I’ve signed up for a daily endurance challenge where the prize is a sore thigh and a bladder that never quite feels un-squished. Enter the Cloudster Pillow Wedge - specifically the Deluxe White Bamboo version. Unlike other wedges I’ve tried that feel like strapping a brick to your holster, this one is actually soft and cushioning where it counts.
What I Liked
The adjustable fill is easily the best part. You don’t need funnels or special tools — just open, pour, squish, repeat. Cloudster includes a very generously stuffed packet of shredded memory foam (not the cheap polyfill you find in similar products), which gave me room to experiment until I dialed in exactly the right balance of fill for my personal support and comfort. Because it’s memory foam, I wasn’t constantly catching clumps of poly stuffing on the Velcro closure or forced to use a clumsy makeshift funnel, either. A small detail, but a big deal in practice.
Compared to rigid foam wedges I’ve used before, this one is a night and day difference. Instead of pressing into my thigh like a stubborn car seatbelt buckle, the Cloudster molded itself to me, spreading out the pressure and making long carry sessions noticeably less miserable. On my first day wearing it, I noticed the relief immediately - what had been an all-day nagging pressure point was suddenly just… background noise. That first outing was the clearest sign this wasn’t just a minor comfort tweak; it actually changes the carry experience.
It also helped reduce printing substantially. It didn’t eliminate it - I typically carry a full-sized handgun, so some silhouette is unavoidable - but the wedge combined with the holster claw and some wardrobe adjustments made for a much more workable, discreet package. Between those three changes I was able to go about a normal day without constantly worrying about my shirt betraying me.
What Could Be Better
Honestly, these are nitpicks. The white bamboo cover feels great, but the fabric started to discolor due to sweat - understandable since it’s pressed directly against the body. If you go with the white version, just consider any discoloration a friendly reminder that these wedges are washable. Daily use up against your body means it’s going to pick up some funk eventually, so throw it in the wash and move on. If I could do it again, I’d choose the black cotton version instead, just for ease of maintenance. The pillow is still perfectly serviceable even after daily use for two months. It's intended to work, not win any fashion awards, and it works exceptionally well.
The other gripe is size. My biggest discomfort comes from the right edge of the holster and claw digging into my thigh. Turning the pillow sideways helped a ton, but even with the Deluxe version I still found myself wishing for a little more surface area to cushion that edge. A couple of extra square inches would’ve been a game-changer for my personal brand of holster chub-rub. Your mileage may vary - if you don’t have my tactical spare tire, you may not notice it at all.
Final Thoughts
The Cloudster Pillow Wedge surprised me in the best way. After using it daily for two months, it's simply become a permanent fixture on my holsters. The adjustable shredded memory foam sets it apart from the rigid wedges out there as well as similar "pillow" products, and the comfort difference during all-day AIWB carry was obvious from the first outing. If you’re tired of sharp edges and constant thigh pressure reminding you you’re carrying, this wedge is worth a serious look. Just pick your fabric wisely, and maybe start lobbying Cloudster for an XL version if you’re built like me.
